Quite a few Saturdays ago, November 19th, was the first 2016-17 Season’s League Competition for FTC Team 7198. They are a part of the Knuth league, which also includes team Swerve and team Fix It. They finished the competition in first place in their league and fifth place in the state. All of the first league competitions for Washington State occurred that weekend, so this ranking was quite an accomplishment!
The next League competition for Team 7198 was on December 10th, 2016. It was by no means a smashing success like the first League competition, but they still did reasonably well. They placed seventh in the competition, which meant they ended up ranked second out of all the teams that would be at the Interleague and seventh out of all of the FTC teams in the state.
At the Interleague this past Sunday, there were thirty-five teams, including the eleven teams that had been at the League competitions. Team 7198 won three of their five matches and lost the other two, placing them in 6th at the end of the qualification rounds. During alliance selection for the elimination rounds, the top four teams each pick two other teams to be on their alliance, and then they compete against each other – 1st vs. 4th and 2nd vs. 3rd. Unfortunately, 7198 was not chosen to be on an alliance, so they will not be moving on to the State Championship.
The team had a great year though, and they learned a lot! We hope to see them back at it again next year!
