Infinite Recharge: The Prototype Strikes Back

Another week, another update! Lots of progress as we near the halfway point of our build season.

Our shooter team started on their Mk. 3 Shooter prototype with new side plates featuring the Rebel insignia and the Mud Horn signet. The team looked at their current prototypes and decided that they needed to make it smaller and more powerful. To accomplish this the shooter team looked at making the radius of the shooter smaller which served two things, first it made the overall size of the shooter smaller and second it increased shooter power by compressing the balls against the shooter wheels.

In order to feed our version of the Death Star laser our collector team moved forward and created some new prototypes based on their earlier CAD. Initially made of wood harvested from Endor the team made some riveting changes by first switching to an aluminum frame held together with some fancy rivets and going from a two belt design to help feed the power cells into the shooter to a single belt with a pusher for simplicity and reliability.

This season isn’t just about the robot though since we also need to look good while out on the field. Public relations worked on finishing the polo design so that they could get sent to the printer. They also put some finishing touches on safety posters that catch your eye with a vintage propaganda theme but with an awesome Star Wars twist, keep a look out for those as well be posting some of them soon!

Keep tuned for more updates next week as we start to turn prototypes into our final bot design!
