Great Expectations

As Charles Dickens so eloquently put it, “I loved the game against reason, against promise, against peace, against hope, against happiness, against all discouragement that could be”. Steamworks looks like it’s going to be an awesome game, maybe even better than last year’s Stronghold! The object of the game is to prepare an “airship” for flight. Robots can collect gears to install on the airship and start turning the rotors, they can collect balls, also known as fuel, to increase the pressure in the boiler for making the steam, and they can climb a rope at the end of the match to prepare for take-off.

The team received the game and the game manual at 7:30 am on Saturday, January 7th. They then spent the next eight hours determining what to do in order to get the most points, and then how to do that.

In the week since then, all of the subsystems have been working very hard in order to begin prototyping and building.

Let us hope that our Great Expectations for the following season come to fruition!
