This week the team harnessed the power of the Death Star to cut out some rebellious side plates for our prototype shooter. Testing provided lots of valuable information including such highlights as VEX gearboxes need lubrication and when the motor starts smoking it might be time to stop testing.. Down a motor for the shooter we had some new warp drive come in, the Aluminum Falcons, or more commonly known as the VEX Falcon 500 Motors which will give our shooter more power than a Gungan Whizboomas.
Our programming team was diligently slicing away at the robots code this week and started to work on a PID system to control the speed of our new shooter, drive system, and collector along with ways to count the Power Cells we collect. We have also been thinking of ways to collect using flat belts and PolyCord borrowing ideas from Ri3D and collection systems from previous games.
That’s all for last week, we’re looking forward to finalizing the shooter and collection systems as the pieces start coming together!
