“Fred II”, our second mechanical competitor, was born from the minds of a team inspired by the FIRST Championships and a fleet of newcomers hoping to experience the same excitement. Fred II sported a fully-functional arm design that incorporated several plasma-cut gears for nearly 180 degrees of movement, mecanum wheel drive, extendable arms to grip the mini-bot pole, and a custom-built mini-bot and mini-bot housing shelter. This robot placed in the seeding alliances, and made it all the way to the final match of the Cascade Regional, earning second place in the regional and taking home the Engineering Excellence Award.
