Imaginative thinking and teamwork build tomorrow’s innovators
With adult Coaches to guide them, FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) teams (up to 10 members) apply science, engineering, and math concepts, plus a big dose of imagination, to develop solutions to real-world challenges. They also design, build, and program LEGO MINDSTORMS®-based robots to perform autonomous “missions” on a playing field. Along the way, they develop critical thinking, team-building, and presentation skills.

Why robotics is challenging...

Grades 4-8; ages 9-14.  We are looking for students eager to learn team-based engineering, willing to focus on a very complex task, and engage in building a world-class team and robot.  No previous skills or training required.  Willingness to learn and work with others is a must.

Parents participate, too – as coaches, mentors, and team support staff.  We also depend on parents to volunteer at our local FLL Jr. Expositions and FIRST Washington tournaments (FLL, FTC, and FRC) our area.

Follow the links below for more background information on the program. You can receive periodic announcements about this program and others (such as when teams start forming) by asking to be added to the “Program Announcements” mailing list.

Express your interest in joining the team formation process.

National Resources (2024-2025)

In the SUBMERGEDchallenge, launching August 6, 2024, FIRST®LEGO® League teams will use creative thinking and LEGO® technology to explore the layers of the ocean and bring their learnings and ideas to the surface as they “sea” into the future.
