Help Wanted - ARBC Volunteers Needed
Our all-volunteer group relies on many hands to make light work to carry out our mission. Many people become involved while their students are members of a robotics team; most move on so we always need new blood to keep the programs going. Not everyone can commit to coaching/mentoring a team, but there are many other ways that you can help. You don’t even need to have a student on a team, you just need to share our vision of student empowerment through hands-on creative STEM-based learning. Which one of the below positions is interesting to you? Click the link to ask for more information or volunteer.
Event Support. Every ARBC event relies on volunteers, especially parents of student team members, to show up at the event and spend some time monitoring students and/or talking to the public. Inquire via e-mail to Board@AnacortesRobotics.org.
Coaches and Mentors. Every FIRST team needs at least two adult coaches. Teams at all age levels can also benefit from additional mentors to help coaches with team activities. Most coaches come from the parents of student team members. Volunteer to coach when you pre-register your student for one of the ARBC-supported programs, or inquire via e-mail to Board@AnacortesRobotics.org.
Membership Director. This is a board-level position requiring attendance at monthly meetings. In addition to general oversight and support of ARBC, specific duties include maintaining the Membership Roster. Inquire via e-mail to Board@AnacortesRobotics.org.
Teamwear Coordinator. ARBC supplies teamwear (t-shirts, mainly) to team members each year. Specificduties include receiving t-shirt size/counts for each team from the Program Directors, ordering materials, and (when produced in-house) coordinating production of t-shirts. One major run each fall; a smaller run each spring. Inquire via e-mail to Board@AnacortesRobotics.org.
Fundraising Director. This is a board-level position requiring attendance at monthly meetings. In addition to general oversight and support of ARBC, specific duties include organizing specific fundraising efforts, communicating with fundraising partners like local restaurants, and coordinating team support through Program Directors and/or team coaches. Inquire via e-mail to Board@AnacortesRobotics.org.
Outreach Coordinator. ARBC holds community outreach events to maintain awareness of the FIRST robotics programs we support in the local community, including STEM nights at local elementary schools (spring semester), robot demos/program information at the Anacortes Waterfront Festival, a float in the Anacortes July 4th Parade, and robot demos/program information/ice cream give-away at Anacortes Open Streets. Specific duties include tracking volunteers to support each event, communicating with event sponsors when necessary, and coordinating team support through Program Directors and/or team coaches. Inquire via e-mail to Board@AnacortesRobotics.org.
