Anacortes Open Streets Festival

Community Outreach Event

2019-08-25

11:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Recorded By: Kaitlin
Participants: Ethan, Kaitlin, Coach Jenkins, Mentor Rick Johnson, Volunteer Mark Jenkins

Coach Jenkins, mentor Rick Johnson, volunteer Mark Jenkins, and students Ethan and Kaitlin participated in the annual Anacortes Open Streets event by hosting an FTC booth, demonstrating their robot, and interacting with the community in various ways. Everyone assisted with setting up booths for all the robotics teams that were present, as well as taking down the booths and cleaning up after the event. Coach Jenkins, Mark Jenkins, and Rick Johnson answered questions about the numerous robotics programs offered in Anacortes while Ethan and Kaitlin took turns driving the robot and talking to community members. The team displayed the Engineering Notebooks alongside the Think Award the team received, and gave away pins with the team number and logo on them. Mark Jenkins also helped with serving free ice cream the booster club gave away to entice people to come to our robotics booth so that we could explain the different robotics programs offered.
