On September 23rd, the team went to their first offseason competition in SeaTac, WA at Seattle Christian Schools – the home of APEX. We did very well with a completely new drive team and had a lot of fun with all of our PNW team friends, especially Cedar Park Robotics, who we ended up next to in the pits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the day, we introduced the new students to all of the aspects of an FRC competition, from scouting to picture taking. Our new paper-less scouting system worked wonderfully and people who had never scouted before could easily watch the matches and fill out the scouting sheets.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our new drive team worked well too – we had three students who traded off driving duty. For eliminations, we picked the one driver who we thought worked out best overall. Overall it went well, considering we were CPR\u2019s, the first Alliance Captain\u2019s, first choice. We got knocked out in the quarterfinals, by the alliance that won the competition, which was pretty incredible, given how much experience our drivers had compared to other teams. <\/span><\/p>\n

There will be other opportunities for all three of those drivers and more to learn and practice for the 2018 season. Our next competition will be Girl\u2019s Generation, a competition where only girls can drive the robot, on October 28th. We are hoping to bring more girls onto the team and do even better at this competition. Stay tuned for more information, including a live stream and a more specific schedule!<\/span><\/p>\n
