Steve Doebler – Fabrication Coach<\/strong>
\nAs Fabrication Coach, Steve manages the robot build. He joined the team in 2015 as a fabrication mentor and assisted with many aspects of the team before taking on the role of Fabrication Coach starting in the 2017\/2018 season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Katy Doebler – Community Outreach Coach
\n<\/strong>Katy joined the team in 2015 as a community outreach mentor with the intention of coaching the next year. As the Community Outreach Coach, she manages all non-robotics aspects of the team.<\/p>\n

\"\"Joe Furin – Team Founder<\/strong>
\nMr. Furin, is a career and technical teacher at Anacortes High School. He has devoted most of his free time to furthering the Anacortes FIRST Robotics program ever since he began it in 2010.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Mike Remmenga – Electronics<\/strong>
\nMr. Remmenga joined the team in the 2017 season and he ended up being a main mentor for the gear collector subsystem. As a mentor in general, he mainly helps students learn how to use the various tools in the robotics lab.<\/p>\n

\"\"Richard Johnson – Team Founder<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Johnson is a fabrication mentor who assists any subsystem that needs it throughout the year. He works with the Kiwanis club in town, so he also serves as our main contact with them – they are one of our sponsors.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Mike Calvert – Fabrication & Welding<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Calvert typically mentors students in the metal shop. He teaches students how to weld and welds himself, which is extremely beneficial to the team. Earlier in his career, he was a volunteer firefighter and EMT and he uses his experience to give an interactive presentation on fire safety every year during build season.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Curt Oppel – Team Founder<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Oppel, one of the founding mentors of the FRC team and a past President of ARBC, serves as a fabrication mentor during the FRC Build Season. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Curtis Payne – Engineering<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Payne serves as a mentor for one of the manipulator subsystems every year. He is very beneficial for the team, as he can serve as both a fabrication and design mentor.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Anton Briefer – Electronics<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0Mr. Briefer is one of Team 3238\u2019s dedicated electronics mentors. He has a degree in Civil Engineering and mostly assists the electronics subsystem with programming.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Steve Richards – Strategy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Richards is a less frequent, but vital mentor who teaches the students about strategy. He assists with determining the strategy for building the robot at the beginning of build season and determining competition strategy – each match and overall.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Bill Johnson – Electronics and Programming<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr. Johnson is an electronics subsystem mentor who excels with electronics parts, so he and Mr. Briefer work well with the electronics students. He has a degree in Computer Science.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Kelley Bright – Bumpers<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ms. Bright became a mentor because she was good at sewing, so she could help out with creating the bumpers for the robot each year. <\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Tonda Smit – Pit<\/strong><\/p>\n

A former coach, Tonda now volunteers as a community outreach mentor who is especially dedicated to working on the pit. She helps bring students ideas to reality.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Aileen Travis – Photography<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ms. Travis joined our the ranks of our wonderful mentors during the 2015-2016 season when she became the ASL interpreter for one of the kids on the team. Since then, she has become the photography mentor. She is knowledgeable about taking and choosing photos, so she helps out the student photographer each year.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
